There's a lot of debate on specific marketing strategies being 'dead' and not worth your investment. But is that actually true?
I was going to say carrier pigeon but there's actually an app for that now so...
NOTHING is dead.
Strategies commonly considered deceased:
🪦 SEO 🪦 Organic social 🪦 Influencer marketing 🪦 Email marketing
All alive and well, but strategies certainly have changed. If you've stopped seeing results with these, you may not be keeping up.
What’s actually happening is evolution.
➡️ Search looks different because AI is now summarizing answers before people even click. ➡️ Social media looks different because attention is fragmented and more relationship-driven than ever. ➡️ Influencer marketing looks different because audiences can smell inauthentic partnerships instantly. ➡️ Email marketing requires high-quality content in order to get opens.
So when someone says “SEO doesn’t work anymore” or “Instagram is pointless,” what they usually mean is:
“The way I was doing this isn’t working anymore and I don't wanna learn how to fix it"
What's also important to know is that not everything is for everyone.
🤝 Some businesses need SEO-heavy strategies because they have clear search intent behind what they offer. 🤝 Some businesses thrive on organic social because their value is built on connection and visibility. 🤝 Some businesses do best with referrals and partnerships because trust is their biggest conversion driver. 🤝 And some businesses make bank with emails because they're always providing quality content.
The strategy has to match the business - its industry, its stage, its budget, its audience, etc.
